Our NEW Carriage House Photography "Virtual Workshop" (CHP/VW) Series!

Are you ready to take the next big step with your photography?

About this Event

"The Silver Lining: ART NUDE PHOTOGRAPHY - Finding your Visual Voice / Learn to Curate and Publish your Photography”

These are challenging times, and we are living a unique moment in our lives, one of isolation and uncertainty. Nevertheless, it’s a time to find ways to be motivated and inspired, to be creative and to grow. We must address these challenges individually, but where being part of a group, and larger community has great benefits!

Welcome to our new Carriage House Photography Virtual Workshop Series!

Do you have thousands of images with potential to add to your portfolio, but find it's hard to edit and curate your own work?

Do you want to improve your work flow and results in the digital darkroom?

Do you want to improve your social media presence and visibility?

Do you want to be a published photographer with a tear sheet and promotional links to your work?

The Bottom Line: All of the above are part of a process that will help you find your "Visual Voice" to make you a better photographer and contribute to improve your future work.

Course Content: The workshop consists of a series of five sessions over four months, intended to take your photography to the next level.

I. VISION - You will identify (or develop), describe and share your own “editorial voice” - a difficult, but critical process in your development as a photographer.

II. VIRTUAL DARKROOM - Improve your post processing skills to improve the presentation of your portfolio.

III. CURATE - Learn to edit and select the images to make an effective presentation of your photography.

IV. SOCIAL MEDIA - Evaluate your use of social media based on a checklist of "best practices" and get tips on how to efficiently and effectively establish your digital footprint.

V. PUBLISH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY - Become a published photographer, not only because of the recognition that it brings, but to have gone through the process of creative focus, direction and achievement that it requires!

Zoe West does Ralph Gibson at Cattail Studio

Zoe is back for a Model in Residence 3 day visit, so we took the opportunity to shot some ideas I've had, inspired by New York/Paris photographer Ralph Gibson.  His minimalist images are both simple, yet often visually compelling and powerful.

Zoe is a very talented and versatile model, and had no difficulty grasping my ideas...

Here's an example :)

Press Release: New Studio Location - Cattail Landing!

Dear Carriage House Studio Members,

Good News!

For all the photographers, models, makeup artists and others who used the Carriage House Studio in Washington DC, founded in 2008, we have now completed the process of relocating to "Cattail Landing" a great new property on the Chesapeake Bay.  Our new location is a little less than an hour from Washington DC, or Baltimore, and just 2 ½ hours from Philadelphia and 4 hours from New York City.

Some of you are familiar with the original Cattail Studio, launched in 2013 - 2014, and then used occasionally for workshops from 2014 - 2017.  We now have added to the property and acquired the house next door, a three bedroom, three bath house, on the water with a pier, and 2 ½ acres of private land on the Chesapeake Bay.

Our focus in our new location at Cattail Landing will continue to be to hold workshops and offer rental space for photo and video shoots.  We will also continue to hold events at other venues where we have collaborative arrangements, including StudioWerks DC, the Wyoming Farm in PG County, and our studio in Miami, Florida.

Starting September 1st we will begin our Fall 2017 of monthly workshops, and take bookings for rentals, as we did at the DC Carriage House. Cattail Landing is listed on Air Bnb and can also be booked by models or photographers for multi-day, overnight use.

Here's a link to the new addition, and images from workshops in the past!

PD - Remember this post...

Unfortunately, 2016 was a year where social media (Facebook, Instagram, Meetup, etc... ) became increasingly restrictive about artistic expression, affecting many members of our community.

Our conclusion is that the only way to protect and sustain our artistic community is by building a mailing list of creatives, free lancers, and others interested in photography who we can reach out to using in-house content that we control without being subject to the "Terms of Use" of third party providers.

Please share this newsletter with others as the best way to continue to develop our community of creatives, free-lancers, professionals and others who enjoy photography!
